Quectel is partnering with Qualcomm to bring smart connectivity to Hongqi E-HS9 vehicles

Quectel Wireless Solutions announced that it is partnering with Qualcomm Technologies, Inc. to support intelligent connectivity in Hongqi’s E-HS9 vehicles, now with the Quectel AG15 Module that is integrated with the Qualcomm® 9150 Cellular Vehicle-to-Everything (C-V2X) chipset solution.

The new Hongqi E-HS9, a full-size intelligent electric sport utility vehicle (SUV), is the commercial production vehicle equipped with LTE V2X technology and 100% validation of driver assistance warnings in multiple LTE V2X communication scenarios reached.

Recently unveiled by FAW Group and slated for sale in China and Europe, the Hongqi E-HS9 utilises dead reckoning and high-precision fusion positioning technologies supported by Quectel’s LTE automotive-grade AG35 module, allowing the vehicle can achieve high-precision positioning in the sub-metre range. This will bring more safety and a better driving experience to connected vehicles and improve traffic efficiency.

Also known worldwide as C-V2X, LTE-V2X is a global solution for V2X communication. It is designed to support vehicle safety, traffic efficiency and automated driving through powerful real-time direct communication between vehicles and the road infrastructure.

To evaluate its intelligent connectivity capabilities, the Hongqi E-HS9 was tested in autonomous driving mode L3 across multiple V2X use cases including: Front Collision Warning (FCW), Blind Spot Warning / Lane Change Warning (BSW / LCW), and Intersection Collision Warning (ICW). The pass rate of 100% has confirmed the robustness of the C-V2X technology.

The production of Hongqi’s E-HS9 vehicles represents a significant step in the global commercial exploitation of the C-V2X as it brings the technology to market in a mainstream model that will be used in multiple regions. Quectel supports automobile manufacturers in the market launch of new C-V2X-capable vehicles by integrating its C-V2X modules into the next generation of vehicles. More vehicles are being developed with this technology, which shows that C-V2X is the automotive standard for intelligent connectivity.
